Drop Ceilings Birmingham AL: Sound Insulation 101
Many of us strive to alleviate excess noise in our homes and workspaces. Noise can be problematic, especially in an office setting.
Let's take a look at how to add sound proofing to your space in order to reduce noise pollution.

Five Ways to Sound Proof Your Ceilings
1. High Acoustical Rating Ceilings: When shopping for different types of ceilings, look for the ones that have a Noise Reduction Coefficient rating of 1.0. This rating will insure that your ceiling will block 100% of the noise that hits it.
2. Decouple Ceiling From Floor Above: When you provide space between your ceiling and the upper floor, you create a sound barrier. Drop ceilings are a perfect way to provide this space.
3. Add Mass: Adding mass to your ceilings will greatly reduce the amount of noise that breaks through. Fibered tiles, like drop ceiling panels, have plenty of mass but are light weight enough to be easily installed.
4. Use Insulation: The area above your ceiling should be insulated to keep sound in. There are many different types of ceiling insulations to choose from that are perfect for the job. This is another affordable way to reduce noise and add insulation value to your home or building.
5. Use Sound Dampening Paint: A quick and easy way to sound proof your ceiling is covering it with sound dampening paint. This will give you added sound insulation for a fraction of the price compared to replacing your entire ceiling.
Remember, this will only give you a certain level of noise reduction. If you have a highly noisy area, dampening paint might not block out enough sound.
